Manifold Advice Needed

I have just purchased an Ashley Competition manifold and full exhaust system and require some advice on the fitting of the manifold.

A friend of the family is fitting this through this fathers garage, he has advised me that to fit the manifold he will have to remove the injector rail/fuel pipes and drop the engine to enable him to get to the manifold.

The questions I need answering are:-

1)   Will you have to remove the injector rail/ fuel pipes?
2)   How long will it take to complete the job?
3)   How much should it cost to complete the fitting of the manifold and exhaust system?

I would really appreciate your advice on this guys.

to be honest the easiest way ive found is take the engine out. sounds extreme but i have some very rusty nuts and studs and it would been near impossible to do in situ, just so happened i was swopping engines at the time lol

yeah put mine on when engine out....

there is a reason why VW put a break in the down pipe!!

it can't go in from the bottom due to the steering rack clearance, so that means in from the top. go and take a look.... there isn't a lot of room!

probably need to take the inlet off aswell to be honest, so yeah, not a quick fix. BUT well worth it  :grin:

I have been quoted between £100 and £150 to complete the job.

Does this sound right? Does any one in the Midlands know of anyone decent who would be able to do this for me.

 Had mine fitted at demon tweeks, took them 4 hours  :shocked: :shocked:

Wasnt cheep either!!  :angry:

A friend of mine had a tubular manifold fitted to his MKII jetta 16v. They had to drop the subframe. I would spend the £150 and forget about it. At least it will be on without you having the trouble of doing it. And it will come with a labour warranty. :smiley:

The only worry I have is that the manifold is not a stainless one its a Ashley Comp Manifold although I have been advised that it will give a good BHP increase and sound quality I don’t know how long its going to last.

I'm thinking that i should have gone for a stainless manifold as it would have lasted longer.

Ashley manifolds don't have the best reputation for quality and fit  :huh:
