Thank you, I will attempt it myself and see how I do I have yet to buy the speakers so will have to ensure I get at least something half decent for £70 for all 4.

im no saint when it comes to car audio...but id say look into second hand gear. settling for 4 new speakers to match you budget wont do you justice...qualtiy head unit or not. However, im sure you could get a good deal on some second hand matching quality speakers for £70 easily :).

Where are you? If you're anywhere near Poole swing by and I'll fit them for nothing

That is very kind, however I am in East London. Not sure how far that is from  :embarassed:

Im sometimes in the E London area. Let me know if you have not done it yet and ill come by and do it for free. Also have some Dynomatt you can have,  I will trim it up for you and install, makes a big differance.

  • Just because I won't - doesn't mean I can't.

You don't need to take door cards off, simply remove speaker cover, unscrew and you're away, some wiring is needed depending on the connection of the new speakers!

It's so easy I did mine myself lol!

i did my front speakers today in 30mins and i aint an expert either.

-Take off speaker grill
-unscrew speaker and unclip loom
-cut loom off the strip back the 2 wires
-crimp on two spade connectors onto the wires
-slide the spade connectors onto the two terminals on the speaker
-make sure each connection is wrapped in electrical tape so they dont touch and short circuit.
-screw new speaker on and replace grill
-just do this 4 times and your done.

Not that clear probs, sorry! tried to tell you wat i did but i cant explain it very well. hopefully you can use something to help you. It will probs take you 3hrs if you havent done it before, cause there will be some trial and error and maybe a mistake that can set you back.

The spade connectors, etc can be got in DIY stores or on ebay.

As for the speakers, you can probs get 4 17cm (around that size, like 16, etc) for like £50. I picked up my front door speakers, thats 2 speakers, for £30. They were basically new - Alpine Custom Fit Type E. Sound really good!

Hope i have helped a bit,

Good luck m8,

LL ;)
