whats yours sound like at 1800 revs?

yeh, i hear my turbo too, but nothing to intrusive, just this 1800 rpm boom, perhaps its the GTi makers trying to make it sound sporty ??

Hmmn I dont, after 15 mins driving round the block it only seems to even be barely "whistling" at 2500, and I dont get a swishing noise at all!
The TT had a really nice whistle, especially going up hills or under load.

Havent noticed any sort of boom (will check tomorrow at some point!) but as for the turbo noises mine makes a lot of whistles and swooshes and it sounds brilliant . nothing too chavvy/neddy but just right!

Im sure i read a thread on this forum about the "swishing" noise. Some people said theres didnt make it but some said they's does. Might be worth a search. The swishing kicks in around 3k revs and i get a noise sound when i change the gear and keep the revs up.
It might depend on how well the engine/exhaust system is bedded in?

Oh and mines the standard GTI without any remap.
Mine makes a nice noise at low revs and its gets better up the rev range  people do turn around to see what car it is 
BUT its not a chavvy sound!

think i may be confusing noisey with sporty i guess,  just when your jused the a five pot growl it takes some getting used to the GTi
