black smoke indicated oil burning. correct me if im wrong. white smoke means too much air in mixture and blue smoke too much petrol in mixture. Correct me if im wrong though, cos im not 100% sure.
Blue smoke is fecked lump/head/burning oil. White smoke is water and black smoke is a diesel motor ...  Not really sure on the black smoke, might also be bad burning oil?

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Black smoke from a petrol = WAY too rich mixture.

Blue = oil being burnt = v. bad

White = water = headgasket gone.

Black smoke from a diesel = foot down too hard, or blocked air filter WAY too rich mixture again.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

The best way to see how bad the problem is, would be to wait untill it smells real heavy of petrol and then carefully remove a match..........

I like the idea, would agree if it was a Skoda

Just popped a panel k&n filter in the car and done 480 miles to Cardiff and back for the Millenium Weekend and not smelt fumes once, apart from when we were stood in traffic for 40 mins during a bad smash and the car and weather both got hot, smelt a hint of fumes then.

I noticed a smell of petrol in my digi a few days ago, popped the bonnet and noticed the fuel rail was a bit wet with petrol, probably from the fuel pressure regulator seal, i'll check it out this week.
