IGNITION TIMING re:timing gun. come on help me
« on: 24 April 2008, 15:45 »
Can anyone tell me what the timing data for my 94 golf gti is, its in the manual but i dont have one yet.  :sad:Also what is the rpm timing. Do i need to leave the vacuum pipe connected or un -connected. My timing gun has 0-60 degrees on it what do i need to set it at to get the correct timing for my car. This is the first time i have used a timing gun i have always done it by listening to the sound of the engine.

Ok..

You want 6 Degrees +/-1  at 2250 RPM

you must disconect the crank case breather hose from the pressure control valve and seal intake hose.
10 golfs and counting!

Engine cranes = the ultimate tool to test the tensile strength of Everything you didn't disconnect!

I think its reference to the advance of the distributor. +/- makes reference to the range it can be out if i remember correct...

so you can be + or - 1 degree
