If you have highline you can adjust the length of time the lights stay on (coming home, going away - whatever they call it) - I got annoyed with people saying "you left your lights on" so moded the time - I do like it when going to car at night although in a car park once I gave a couple a fright as they got the Xenons shinning right into their car, think they "trying" to get jiggy   and no I wasn't out doggin!

yes...but thats not what this thread is concerned with is it?

The Coming Home function or the other one...is seperate to the Auto Lights function?

They are independent, or am I mistaken?

I am just checking in case I have missed something....cos my coming/ leaving home function time is set quite long and my auto lights dont switch off very quickly after driving through a tunnel/ under a bridge......?

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Thats right Gaz.

Auto lights gives you 'coming home' lights which means they stay on for 40secs I think it is when switching off the car, also when you unlock the car if its dark the lights will also come on for the same time - I still find people telling me I have left my lights on when walking away.

Auto also will switch the lights on if your wipers go onto full speed (assuming heavy rain) and also whenyou go over 80ish MPH for over 20seconds or so, the switch off when you slow down under 40ish MPH for more than 2mins I think it is - I say ish as the figure is a kmph.

Clubs - was only adding my 10 pence worth about coming home as it was mentioned by Neg and a previous post - it's all "lights" related and if some people don't know about Auto Lights then maybe they also don't know about the other "light" related features - and in this case ones that are useful unlike autolights

I don't think the time value is shared betweeen the two functions - maybe someone can confirm

froggin rocks...!

Guys regarding the coming home lights.....

before i lock the car i quickly press the unlock button and then the lock button and the lights switch off instantly.  I was also sick of people telling me i'd left my lights on and i've been doing this for 2 years

I use mine but when they come on I do wonder if someone is in front they might think I am doing it to get them out the way ... on the other hand some people do pull over which is a bonus

Tempted to disable this bit of the feature in VAGCOM as I do tend to leave mine on Auto all the time.

As for shadows etc, bright sunshine in the morning/evening can tend to confuse them a little which I think it normal from the sounds of it.

Auto lights was doing my head in so I never use it.  I've also switched off the coming home/leaving home function because I always found myself hanging around to make sure they switch off so I don't get a flat battery!  I was also aware of other drivers wondering what was going on when I suddenly switched my lights on for no apparent reason!

The auto wipers are pants too just like they were on my Mk 4.  Sometimes they wipe when the screen is dry but when it's hammering down and the screen needs a wipe they do nothing!

Well I like both.. AW is not brilliant but altering the sensitivity button helps.
