subject says it all...

If you had 10k you had to spend on a vw project car what would you do?

mentioned this idea on another thread so though it might make a good discussion..

seriously tempted on making a nice mk3/4 ish cab based vr6 :)

probably wouldnt do much extra after the engine swap, probably lots of cosmetic stuff.. like a nice paint job (not bright!!), lighting mods.. probably a deep metallic red, with a cream interior.. mmm, plus some nice ice + security.

whats your fantasy? :)

Mark1 or 2 with a VR6 lump in.  8)

I'd paint it midnight blue/ black and some nice bbs 13s.  Light leather interior.

Stick some bad-ass ICE in and away you go.
54-plate Golf 2.0 FSI GT.  Leather interior.

Sorry guys it would have to be a ultra lightweight MK1 with a 2 litre 16v DCOE 45 based engine - Weber alpha kit - Syncro system etc

With some pucker work on the engine u should see the sunny side of 300bhp and get the weight down to around 500kg you'll have a monster !

i'm with sorta with you on this.

personally, i'd probably go with a remapped 1.8T and totally stripped out Mk1.

i reckon you may get the weight down to around 700kg at most, but you would have till have a superb power to weight ratio, which is what counts.

;D It would have to be a split screen camper van for me, done in matelic red bottom half n cream top half - I would do the inside out really fancy like stainless fridge n cooker lol would put some very nice chrome wheels on something deepdish I think and have it riding really low  ;) then maybe put some ridiculously large engine in it just to make things fun.  ;D
