Stevie thanks for this, at lunchtime I went to Drivers and had a word...whilst they have vagcom they can resolve faults apparently, this would then have to go back to the dreaded dealer network!!

Called AC back about the ridiculous quote of £270 for retro fit the cruise, whilst their Accessory brochure shows £150.....they said well....err...cos yours is already fitted we need to remove it and theres a lot of complicated wiring!!!! pmsl  so the price stands!

I am seriously losing paitence, however all is not lost VW responded to the original query in respect of the CC they are requesting the partnumber of the steering control unit...I suspect that theres an incompatibility issue, as the CC is out of warranty I think AC will try to hit me for a replacement steering control unit...does anyone have a clue to the cost of these?

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Thanks Berto, when AC get back to me with the technical response from VW re the cruise control I will probably check these guys out.

Digging around onllne, I reckon its a steering control module that may need changed to get the CC to function.  Since the retrofitted CC is not vw warrantied, this will no doubt give AC a chance to charge me a silly amount for this swap out and to enable the CC function.

I have also seen discussed on line that some need an extra cable installed through the bulk head...but no idea what for...

I dont really trust AC at Crow road now...especially after the quote to retrofit the CC for £265, despite the VW booklet saying £150!!

STILL no information back from the dealer...its ridiculous!  So I called yesterday,...the mechanic will check the replies from VW and give you a call sir...24 hours later...still no response from Arnold Clark Jordanhill....pathetic!

Soo...I called AGAIN!

Sir, .... "The Service Receptionist who originally was dealing with you is not here, she is back on Monday and she will need to contact you on her return"

Aparently, she coordinates the response from VW and will have to check her mails to see if there is any further update! Now I know this is total mince, because she logged into the VW system this time last week to read an update for me and said "I shouldnt really be doing this, the mechanics should be the only ones with access!"...

I think AC are terrible here, after having the car for a full day and running diagnostics they should be able to tell me what they need to do to get the Cruise Control working,...and certainly after more than a week of dialogue with VW.

In short it will have been at least TWO Weeks to the day when I put the car in for a service and they cant tell me whats wrong and what it will take to fix the cruise control and the auto lights function!

Berto, just been to www.audivwrepaircentre.co.uk they seemed a bit retiscent to start the job, suggesting that they could only look to see if theres "a loose cable" or the like,....wasnt convinced they had access to any diagnostics such as vagcom/ assist or whatever pc based tool is used in the trade.

I am stuck waiting now on the formal response from VW and AC Crow Road...bet you they blame the fact that the previous owner replaced the clear footwell bulbs with blue ones as the reason why the Cruise Control doesnt work..........or that the cc retrofit caused this BIG ISSUE .and it cannot be fixed unless I replace some really expensive part.....no doubt a large bill is in the post...watch this space for an exciting update next week...
