it was AC at Jordanhill, the mechanic as I say seemed to know what he was talking about...however i am ever so slightly peeved that .....

a. they wont fix the CC as its not from the factory  i need to call round some numbers today to see if I can find out who fitted it and when.....

b. they say they cant fix the auto lights function problem cos theres an error showing on their diagnostics and need VW to comment

c. I am concerned that they suspect that the twit who replaced the footwell light bulbs with poncy "pimp my ride" blue things has done some damage. I mean, come on you pull the cover, take out bulb, go to halfords, replace the bulb with a blue one and replace the cover and then look like a twit ffs.

d. either that or the fitting of the bass woofer caused all these problems...

Yep think I will replace the console surround myself, cheers.  None of these issues are major and the car is absolutely fantastic otherwise,......but this should serve as a salutory lesson to all you guys out their who keep adding bits to your stock motors.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

no luck with 2 other dealers who are mentioned in the history...waiting on call back from original supplying dealer in London....either its been retro fitted as a dealer option OR some muppet has tried to fit themselves and made a James Blunt of it.

Is this something that ANYONE would try to fit themselves? if its only £150  to fit at the dealers my guess is that it cant be that difficult.....not that I would attempt it mind you, replacing the centre console fascia is about my limit of bravery.

I think there's a "How to...." guide on one of the forums so it is possible they did it themselves.

There's even people on ebay offering to come round and fit it.... Not saying they would necessarily do a bad job, but it shows the wide range of companies offering to fit it.

Pick up the vw accessories brochure at the dealer, under the golf section, cruise is listed as £150 fully fitted

Honestly £150-£155 including VAT is the going rate at main dealers. If they try charging you more go elsewhere. I went to the main dealers in Leamington Spa to get it fitted and I hadn't purchased the car from them or had any previous delaings.

Is that Spirit VW at the Shires next to the Mazda garage? Might have to have them do mine if so!
