warranty...a bit unfair
« on: 20 March 2008, 10:45 »
Warranty expired on the 15th March....noticed while polishing the car on the 15th (Saturday) that the dreaded white worm has started on my bootlid badge/handle...the dealers are closed on a sat afternoon so rang on Monday..."sorry Sir...warranty ran out 2 days ago...VW won't cover ANYTHING after the expiry date..even if it is one day after..."

Subaru where happy to carry out warranty work on my Impreza up to 6 months after the expiry date as a 'goodwill' gesture......have to say the whole VW experience has left a bad taste....it'll be the first and last VW I'll buy...

Write to customer services and I'm sure it will be covered if you explain it was noticed after the dealer had closed etc

i called up the stealer yesterday just for a piece of advice from a mechanic on how to feed a wire through from the engine to inside the car, the b!tch on reception  said "sorry we cannot give advice on the phone as there is no phone in the garage" the garage at my dealers is next door to the showroom with a window seperating the two. instrad she gave me a helpline that was charging me 50p per miniute and was engage for the 15 mins i tried, then just gave up.

i also had a subaru and they were much more helpful. VW really p!ss me off sometimes

Makes me want to ensure that my warranty is extended beyond this september 5th...when it runs out...

my experience of BMW/ Mini is that even if the warranty has ran out they will generally (within reason) assist with costs of parts and you have to pick up labour.  Clearly you are talking about a condition that existed and developed within the warranty period, its not like it just all of a sudden happened on the stroke of midnight is it? I would try to appeal...Good Luck mate.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

....Well, I can only report nothing worse than the most excellent aftersales service from my VW dealer!

Only yesterday I was a bit concerned about a squeaking and rubbing sound on my brakes and they took her in, popped her up on the ramp and then the mechanic came out and gave me a full report himself. I have aftermarket AP Racing big brake kit on the fronts too. Just needed a touch of grease in the caliper....No charge!!

That is just typical and I could post a loooong list of similarly excellent aftersales experiences with my VW dealer - VW Loders of Dorchester      - Five Star Service!!

you are very lucky RedRobin....here in N Ireland we seem to have dealers that really dont want to help in the slightest. It was a case of 'Computer says No' ...apparently they feed in the details of the claim and the new VW system will either say yes or no.......lovely..nice personal customer service..the 'goodwill' was just superb...not!
