Amp wiring

Just a quick one please.... is it vital to run the Power cable and RCA cable down different sides of the car to stop interference? it seems a little more hassel to do.

depends on your system, more to the point the current draw.

If you are pulling massive current then you would get more distortion. In my experience it doesnt make that much of a difference for the average setup.

still recomeneded though.

is that 800 watt peak or RMS? and what amp are you running it from?

thats prob peak out put so no need to run the wires down either side of the car as you wont notice any difference if you did

last question, can anyone tell me the best place to ground/earth is?

this is the cable that just comes from the amp to the point in which your going to earth it to?

for big systems its adviseable to tap your own earth but you can share the earth near the rear light clusters. easy to see if you have a look around. if you tap your own make sure you give the area a good sanding first to ensure a good contact.

lastly, peak power doesnt mean anything. when your choosing your system components make sure you use the rms ratings.

i ran all the leads down one side in my mk3, i have had no problems, just used an earth point in the boot too

there are usually holes under the carpet with gromets in them, push a gromet out and earth it there, and as said make sure you sand it down so it is bear metal for a good connection, then make sure the bolt is done up very tight. also the best thing is to make sure you earth it out as close to the amp as poss
