Actually, I think your find the R32 and it's 4wd was 0.5s quicker.
1.32.5 compared to 1.33.0

That was the old R32! The new one was about 3.5secs quicker than the old one.

VXR eat my dust!!

Yep that's true.
But since my vxr was £8k cheaper new than an R32 and does 31mpg over 27k miles, I wouldn't swap

thats not a uk astra sri im sure of it, the only one that has simular performance is the one that cant handle round corners, forgot what its called............... oh yeah vxr thingy

Well they did say it's 200bhp so it's the same power as an sri.

And the vxr goes round corners just fine, just hold on to the steering wheel and you'll be fine. And in terms of performance, the vxr is quicker than the GTI manual, DSG and the R32
Not that much quicker and one you forgot to include, the ed30, and yes many a spin with a vxr and no worries at all, please also bear in mind the vxr was designed mainly for track whereas the golf was designed to be an all rounder!

Don't think the vxr was ever designed with the track in mind

The VXR badge is meant to lean more toward track/touring car useage rather than road although would agree partially that's not always the case!!!

If you batter a vxr and gti along the same stretch of back road the gti will always come out top all down to a better chassis.

VXR I thought were designed more for track than road, would have to agree with SteveC re blasting both GTI and VXR along same back roads, the GTI's superior chassis will shine through

....GTI vs VXR ? - Methinks it depends so much on the drivers. When I used to race bicycles, my custom made bike was capable of winning the Tour De France....But I wasn't!!
