Smal update
car has been off the road for the last 4 weeks due to the damage sump and awaiting for the modified one to be completed
we could not take as much off as we first wanted due to the way the crank and oil pump hand down (see pic below)
so we copied the shallow sump but took things a bit further
this picture shows the modified on the left and the normal on the right, the pink highlights the proble, area on the original..
The way it sits on the car is not how it looks laid flat because the engine is on a tilt, this meaning the problem area thst highlighted in pink points towards the floor!!!!, we wanted to get rid of this.
try let these pics do the talking
modified on left, original on right - the pink shows problem area that takes a serious beating

again, modified one is on the left

Original on the car, picture taken with car elevated on axle stands

Same angle and level, but here is the modified sump

And here is the reason we cant go any more shallow in the centre, pic shows same angle again but no sump

The sump never made any impacts on the centre piece, but we will see if this now causes a issue
the sump had been modified using 5mm plating, the oil return line attachment is still to be added as is the sump plug, pics to come on this in next few days
Its been calculated to get the correct 4.7litres the engine needs, will show 1.mm over the max line on the dipstick.. everything has been calculated by a doctor of engineering
He would not modify the sump until he knew we could run the correct amount of oil, he told me running any less than manufactures levels on a turbo car is just stupid as the oil will get too hot, especially on my application with the bigger turbo..
the 1.8T shallow sumps you can buy loose over half litre of oil, this one wont and i have more clearance than one of those still
anyhow more pics to come of the finished item
also got a Air Fuel ratio set up installed now including a turbo timer.. more on this soon too
Can wait to get it back on the road and fully custom mapped
