Views on the Red Stitching in the ED30

They look too much like a Ford TDCi badge (have a look next time you're behind a Focus/Mondeo!) and cheapen the car.  I would have much preferred to have a numbered plaque instead of the Edition 30 badges but we all know why we didn't get them now don't we

Spot on about it looking like the TDCi badge - I had a Focus TDCi hire car recently, badging is very similar.

I'm being dense here - I don't know why we don't get a numbered plaque - could I please be enlightened??   

I imagine that the lack of a numbered plaque is because VW never intended the ED30 to be a true limited edition model, but rather a 30th anniversary celebration of the first GTi.

That’s not strictly true. The ED30 was limited to 1500 units when it was launched and the supporting VW PR material stated this fact. There is a long thread here  http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/182036.aspx  which includes original pdf material from VW.

A lot of ED30 owners have already written to VWUK to complain about being ‘potentially mislead’ and will post their response once received.

It’s worth taking the time to check the thread out. This is why we don’t have numbered plaques in our cars!

they had numbers on the mk4 golf anniversary didnt they.

i always thought the edtion 30 was limited but saying that i have seen more of them then gtis in my city

plus... at the dealers they have loads of edition 30s for sale.

Yes there does seem to be ALOT of ed 30's with manual trans up for sale, not many dsg's in comparison. Vw 's own website uk search has god knows how many!.
