Views on the Red Stitching in the ED30
« on: 13 March 2008, 21:47 »
I recently posted pics of my steel grey ed30 which also showed an interior shot, the odd comment came through saying that they thought the red stitching looked ,...

What's the general view, I've had both std gti and now have the ed30 and have to admit I prefer the detailing on the ed30

Opinions guys and girls re the overall styling of the ed30????

It makes me wish i spent that few grand extra for a bit of red cotton

Seriously, I like it..it's a nice touch. Just wish they would have given the standard GTI similar treatment

I love it too - it is just subtle enough to not be 'in your face' but obvious enough to be a nice finish.

Makes the ED30 that little bit different

I've had both too, previous GTi had leather, wasn't to sure about the ED30 interior including the red stitching when looking at the brochure pictures but had to have 1 for the engine alone. So when my car was delivered I was really suprised the interior looked so much better in the flesh, including the red stiching and the tartan cloth and I've had nothing but positive comments from me mates

Steel grey suits the interlagos interior and the red stitching, feckin ace it is.

I think the red stitching looks better in real life than in photos but I'm still not that keen. Also, as you are asking, I don't much like the Interlagos cloth extending forward to the front bolster on the Ed30.

In photos I think it can look very mg metro, however in real life I think it looks great.

I would loose the red edged mats though, for me they're overkill.

I still wonder whether I did the right thing, but I didn't go for an Ed30 at the time even though I saw one in the flesh. That was mainly down to:

- The red stitching - for me it's a little garish
- The red floormats - ok, not a showstopper
- The interlargos just didn't look the same - not just that it went to the front of the seat, but the pattern did seem to be different
- No Monza 2 - I still absolutely love my wheels!
- Money, and that extra insurance group - bearing in mind I'd already been stung as I had a couple of laptop thefts from my old (company) car :-(
- The 'Edition 30' decal on the dash

It still makes me slightly jealous when you guys talk about your Ed30's, I like the colour-coding and my right foot really does need that extra power - but at the time I thought that some of the (internal) styling tended to gild the lilly....
