Just curious...are the tiguans selling well over in the UK...there was quite a big demand for them here....the guy brought in 20 on the first delivery and they all sold within the first week and there is another 20 coming in with my R in the next few weeks

To answer the original question. A bit no.  Show him this post and he will change his mind very quickly:

Mind you the second link took me ages to find :lipsrsealed:

Strike him a deal rather. OR go second hand.

IN RESPECT OF THE DEAL

There is only so much we can give in the uk, and with a p/x involved its just to far to stretch, but i'm working on it.

I just wondered if there was any info on the imports.

Thanks for the help

....I'm not an expert on this but I think you need to check VERY CAREFULLY the EXACT spec of an import, especially from a 'hot' climate.

You also need to thoroughly check it's history - There all sorts of scams I've heard.

Only import through a very reputable UK importer such as Euroimports. Personally, I would only use a VW dealer - It might not give you any savings but the aftersales stuff is far more reliable and better standard if you get a good VW dealer.

I think the 2nd link in 08micsta's post says it all .

I have seen that post on a few forums including this one :

http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1164268/page/0/fpart/all/vc/1

The biggest potential pitfalls I've read are :

1.  The car has been stood for years (as in the link above)
2.  As a result of 1 above there may be hardly any VW warranty left on the car (as I believe it starts from the PDI date, and if that's not clear, it starts from the date the car left the factory)
3.  The spec of the car may well not be Euro/UK (particularly the alarm).  If that's the case you're insurance company will not like it at all and you may well have big problems getting insurance.

There are some reasonably priced, proper UK spec imports out there from Denmark, Holland and Germany, on both GTi's and Ed30's.  Best stick to these IMHO.
