EXHAUST ISSUES!!
« on: 08 March 2008, 20:32 »
does any1 else hav problems with exhausts?
gt a standard exhaust on it n replaced the middle box 2 weeks ago n noticed there wasnt much room or much give in the exhaust around middle n back box,
but was fine............4 a week!
set off 1 day and middle box was knocking on floor pan n by end of day both the new clamps had loosened n it was blowing like f*ck!
had it tightened n re-aligned on weds n was fine until i booted it in second 2day n then i heard the dreaded knocking noise again!by the time i got home it was blowin!
this common problem with these exhausts?
gonna spot weld the clamps to stop em cummin lose nut surely u shouldnt hav to go to these lengths?

where did ya have the exhasut fitted mate? being an exhaust fitter its rare that clamps come loose. one thing could be just a sh!t fitting exhaust and be slightly too big for the pipe so wont grip.

this problem can be caused by the small section after the cat,,,its just an extra piece of foot long pipe and if thats not fitted well the whole exhaust will be off! causing problems like yours!
I would check thats fitted fine first and adjust the exhaust there for better fit

You need to use aero lock nuts not the normal nyloc ones as they will melt! There are lots of types on the market, have a good look around, try - www.bapp.co.uk

when u re-do it everythings spot on n no knockin etc,bt as soon as you boot it its pulled outta place again!
could there be too much wear in the engine mounts so when you boot it the engines pulling on the exhaust?
