False Floor
« on: 08 March 2008, 17:20 »
Hey everyone

i know this is a rubbish question but can anyone tell me how to make a falsh floor in the boot for my 1994 mk3 golf?

i need it to cover the spare wheel well as iv ditched the spare wheel and carry round a can of tyre weld.

gotta make some sacrifices right? :P

Cheers everyone WK

if you feeling very technical you can make your false floor as stated above and then hinge it in the midde so you can still access the spare.

Iv never seen custom made false floors to buy. Theres a business idea for someone.

bolting down generaly isnt necessary as all of the extra weight on the board and the exact fit of the new false floor makes it stay in place.

i have just built a new compleate install.....  i said to the missis as i was doin it i should take photos  as im going along....  would of fit perfectly into this thread.

What i did was took the carpet out me boot, layed it into mdf... drew round it....  and cut it out with a jig saw.   1 false floor......

i will take some pictures 2morro in the day light so you can see the windows i made for the amps and stelthed them into the floor. this is what it looks like at night for now any ways..

Here My effort! I got a space saver off ebay and using a bit of MDF and some carpet (ebay again)

Tip is use the carpet that is in the boot as a template!!

is you sub box screwed to the false floor from underneath to stop it flying around???
does it all come out ok?
i was thinking of making a false floor and securing my subbox but i thought it would be an utter pain in the arse to get the spare wheel out with a perfectly fitting MDF floor and 12" sub box in there.

ITS A TRAP!
