when braking through corners

This may be the route of your problem. You should brake before the corner, consistant power through and then accelerate out of it. Braking mid corner is very good at upsetting the balance of any car.

I agree but in real world situations traffic etc. the brakes have to be applied round corners, long motorway bends etc, stopping from speed due to some idiot pulling out etc. Having raced go-karts for a few years I understand the methods used out on the racetrack but as we know the roads are not race tracks

Fair point, you weren't too clear on the circumstances in your first post under which these problems where occuring.

It culd be down to simple tram lining due to the wide wheels on the GTi. I would say get your dealer to check the tracking as that may be an issue.

I sorta feel this aswell but it very well could be the ABS kicking in or something....which allows the car to shake/wobble....especially if ur going quite fast and apply the brakes quite hard?

Yeah I don't think I have explained very well  :embarassed: I mean braking hard round a corner due to an obstacle. It just did not feel as stable as previous cars
