@Kiddfrost
Do you regret getting the Revo? So you're going to stick with the oem DV for now? And was it replaced under warranty without any hassle, and did the dealer know you had a remap or did you tell them about it?

Absolutely not, I did a fair amount of research before deciding Revo was best for me.
Yes, I'll be sticking with the oem dv for now. I'll see how long the rev G lasts before considering anything else.
No it was not replaced under warranty. When I took it in for loss of power they did a "software update" and said it was fixed. After leaving the stealer I realised it was not. As I have vagcom it was easy to see a boost leak so I just got a new DV and fitted it myself.
Everyone has their own set of circumstances and reasons on whether they decide to tell the dealer about their remap.

Ok thanks. I'm going to go with it and hope for the best. If it does go pop I'll probably fit a Forge DV, but I'll get the remap done and stick with the stock one for the moment. Thanks for all the advice.

You must tell your insurer about a remap and it's sensible to have an open and honest working relationship with your dealer, or change dealer! My dealer knows about all my mods and I simply switch my Revo to Stock for any servicing session.

Yes, I've spoken to my insurance company about it and they are happy to cover me at no extra cost after the remap provided I send them in an engineers report declaring what work was carried out, and provided that's the only modification made on the car. It's peace of mind if anything.

No they didn't say that they wouldn't insure me, they just implied that any additional mods would probably result in a loading which would increase my premium. They are willing to cover the remap for no additional cost, as long as I provide them with an engineers report on the remap. :smiley:

It's through a broker here in Ireland. The policy is underwritten by one of the large insurance companies here. They don't operate in the UK AFAIK.

The problem with the OEM DV failing is that you don't always immediately notice the loss of performance if the split is small.  So you lose small amounts of pressure causing a small loss of performance and not always a fault code.

The ED30 and similar engined cars seem to fare better with the front mounted DV as it is thought that the extreme temps placed on the KO3 mounted DV are the cause of the issue.

OEM??

On the KO3 cars it is mounted directly on the Turbo housing.

3 allen bolts and a plug but you need to raise the car and probably remove the undertray (deffo on the Octy so I assume similar on the GTi).

It is easier on the ED30 as it is remotely positioned at the front of the engine - almost at the side of the air intake. You will have to take off the engine cover though.
