just for info, for anyone getting a first service done - I had my first T&D service on my Edition 30 yesterday, 9,800miles, requested they use longlife oil, £107.35 +VAT, they quoted me £98.76 for the same service with standard oil, so didn't think that was bad
That sounds good compared to mine. London rates are quite extortionate.
Update on my trip to VW this avo.
Went in and service reception were all nice and helpful. They got some bloke out who went sat in the car for a minute and then came over and handed the keys to me and said it had all been switched over to LongLife. I was very suspiscious and said don't you need to hook it up to your diagnostics gear to reset it? Nope comes the reply. OK you're the professional (I didn't actually say that). Went out sat in the car, did the old trick and up comes 9400 miles or 372 days. I go back in, and after about 10mins the service reception guy comes out and I explain to him why I'm still loitering with intent to get my car sorted. He say's no probs I'll take it down to the workshop and get it sorted out. Another 10mins. Hands me the keys and says it's all done. I get in, hit the buttons, and up comes 9400 miles and 372 days. He doesn't know the trick with the display so I show it to him and he says he'll take it back in. 10 more mins and this time it's done right. Master Technician actually knew what he was doing apparently.
Now, I don't blame the service reception guy, he was quite young and just wasn't as clued up about his products as he should be(no excuse I know). What is more of a concern is the backroom guys in the workshop. Maybe they should make these forums required reading for these guys/gals.
I dread taking my car in to the dealers and will go independent as soon as poss. I know you can do that already, but the warranty period is always a time for extra care.
Any way, this will get me well passed the warranty period and i'll get it switched to time/distance then, and go to my independent guy.
Buyer beware. Even the simplest jobs can be too much for some of our "technicians".
