« on: 03 March 2008, 16:37 »
Is it Difficult or just a matter of fitting a non PAS rack and removing all the gubbins associated with the system ?

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

It's aparantly a bit fidly with the PAS, (removing or putting one in anyways) , remove exhaust down pipe/manifold for ease of access and lower the rear of the subframe a bit by the rear wishbone bushes. Universal joint is a slightly different length and the rubber shroud that covers it is a different shape. I think the rack to sub frame rubbers are slightly different too.

Well the engine and frame should be coming out anyways , its being used as a race car so its one less thing to go wrong and you get a bit more feel without it

If that's the case then you should leave the PAS in - it's a quicker rack, which means you'll be doing less arm twirling to keep up with the crowd.

Oh right, yeah that'll take a few pounds in weight off your car then. Sell the whole gubbins on with the double pulley and belt tensioner to get some money back.

Is there much of a difference in the turning ratio between PAS and non PAS?

Do you know what the rack ratio lock to lock differance is ?
