Sorry mate thats crap.

If i sell you a car, and i tell you its great fantastic, you wont ever have any problems, they are perfect. What will happen the first time you have a fault, i will have to put up with you sat at my desk telling me how dissapointed you are in my withholding the truth, and the reality is you probably wont buy a car from me.

But if like i do always, treat you how i myself would like to be treated and tell you that yes the cars have faults, and there are problems but in the majority of cases these problems can be sorted out, then its possible you might think ah he is being very honest and might buy another car from me.

Salesmen have a very bad reputation, one that i hate it.

I treat everyone with respect and i would never intentionally lie to someone for a sale.

This is a carear to me not a job, thats why i have repeat customers.

Unfortunately vw_sales it is a reputation that has grown through peoples experiences. I agree not every salesman is the same, nor is the prejudice with car salesman alone. However cars due to their value are the products people get most emotional about.

Having purchased 6 cars for my private use in the last 2 years alone, I have found the majority to be rude, elastic with the truth, unknowledgeable about their product and overly pushy. However, I have found exceptions to the rule but these have been few and far between.

Whilst working for my company I changed roles from a non-sales position to a one with sales in my job title, I immediately noticed the change in attitude towards me by members of staff purely because I had become involved in "Sales".

I would say however that car sales staff can be their own worst enemy. Whilst waiting for my cruise control to be fitted I worked for 3 hours from the waiting area of my local VW dealership. With my head down working on my laptop I clearly blended into the background as I was frankly appalled at the way the sales staff, from junior to senior, where talking about the cars and the customers and there attitude towards them.

So whilst I believe you are one of the good guys, please don't get offended every time your met with a degree of scepticism.

broad shoulders mate, no offence is ever taken.

But comments like this "the more he sells the more money he makes so its better for him to up the brand", iritate a touch.

There are good and bad in all walks of life, just like there are good and bad customers, sometimes they way people speak to me is worse than they would speak to there dog, but you have to smile and take it.

VW make good cars, i dont need to big them up, but i dont build them or fix them, i just try and sell them.

Can i add...... I work in banking and every week we process 10000+ transactions but the only ones any body hears of is the 2-3% that go wrong.... and you see people slate our service all over various web sites etc. It will be the same with car's.
For every 10000 cars sold there will be some that have faults and these are the only ones you will hear about....

The problem is when you work in a particular industry (and I've been there myself) you become slightly immune to the real value of what your dealing with.

In finance for example, that £500 transaction not being processed correctly may mean some poor person has had their landlord threatening them with eviction or left a relative standed at an airport in another country. But when you are processing thousands with values running into many millions you lose sight of that.

Its the same with cars, because the salesman is selling these thngs day in day out, they can forget what £20,000 can really mean to a person and therefore lose sight of just how much emotion and anticipation they have when spending that kind of money.

Some wise words said in this thread.

When I'm looking for a car, I always enter a dealership with a healthy degree of cynicism.

VW_sales, where do you work???

I like using these forums and looking at the various threads, but i think i could be put in a vunerable position if i say which dealer.

I love my job and dont want to compromise that, i'm sure you can understand that. maybe !!

I agree mate, I wouldn't say where if I was you.

You don't want people going into their local dealership quoting you.....
