Vr6 timing

hi all need some help on tweaking
my voora's timeing
i know its out at the moment
but needs help and want to get more out of it
performance wise


PLS HELP

Use a timing strobe to set it up correctly, you can advance the timing slightly, will cause the engine to "pink" (knock)  so you would need to reduce intake temp and use higer grade fuel,  now if you run on optimax all the time and have a very good cold air feed you can usualy get away with advancing the timing a fair amount to get more power and a better burn,  Doesnt make a huge amount of diffrence and you must be carefull not to advance to much,  golder grade sparkplugs are a good idea aswell but not nessasry unless your running a turbocharger etc.. 

your better off setting it to OEM Spec   :wink:

they dont have dizzys on them so how can you check / alter the timing .its got a cam chain on it .

mk3 golf 1.8t ,280mm front brakes rear disc conversion,coillies.

but i notice that u guys (0verseas) have distributors on overhead cams......




whereas we do not have distributors on ours and it runs off wasted spark......
or coil pack mounted on the sidejust above the gearbox.




do u guys have shops where these distributors are sold !!!! and at what Cost maybe
second hand 2but with new caps and rotors

Might be worth trying some of the Yank websites, I know Mallory do stuff for virtually any application.

on earlier vrs they have dizzys not seen any personally just worked on the later ones with coils
