Speakers
« on: 27 February 2008, 09:23 »
Hello all.
Have decided to treat the mk3 to a new headunit, new speakers (already own a sub and amp from prev car) and a hands free kit.

Love the style of the alpine headunits but not too sure on what speakers to get.

Any recommendations? I'd like to run the hands free kit so it comes out thru the speakers too..

Cheers

Mac

Umm...
Headunit up to £400 (was looking at the Alpine DVA-9861Ri model)
Speakers. In my last car my mate fitted components up front, kept the rears as standard...so probably around £150-£200 mark for speakers. Already got the sub and amp (already alpine)

Not sure on the head unit as iv always ran JVC units.

Have a look here for speakers

It would be a good idea to amp the speakers too.

Rainbow
SPL dynamics (i think)
Diamond audio

all seem to get a good write up.

yep cant go wrong with an alpine head unit as said...  there remote output will run any amount of ampage/neonage   the sound qualitys the best on the market,( try and find the rare v drive 60watt head units) and the amps within an alpine head unit are most reliable.  If you want a "loud/crisp" sounding system stick with the NON screened alpine head units as they are made for the job.  If your not to fussed about the slight lack in quality of sound and want fluffy looking bits then go for a dvd screened unit. ( i actually went to get the new screened alpine £800`s worth and the bloke in she shop told me to not bother and keep my exsisting alpine)  If the geezas going to turn down £800 cash there must be some truth in it. i have the cda9812rb...  if you can get 1 of these then your laughing, can add all sorts to them ipods/bluetooth/phones etc.

speaker wise i run JBL GTO 507C componants, amped and sound the don!

hope this helps.
