Gti 16v idling part 2

The stalling / cutting out/ lack of power problem with my gti is getting worse, so booked into a specialist on friday.

I just went out to see if I could watch it stall whilst the bonnet was open,,,

I noticed when I revved the car whislt the engine was running in nuetral, that as the rev needle came back down.... it was quite slow to do so and it kind of paused as it was half way down for a split second....

Say I revved it to 4ooo rpm.... on its way back down to 1ooo it would ever so slighty look as if it was in 2 stages .... pausing slightly at 2,500...

any one heard of this?

mine did similar, i changed the coolant temp sensor about a tenner gsf. have you cleaned the throttle body and tried the ecu and fuel pump relays.

ive cleaned the throttle body well which seemed to make it run better for a few days but it now seems to be worse each week.

Ive made sure that the relays are pushed in... havent changed them though... or any sensors


what fixed yourS?

Change the relays, also change your vac lines to silicone ones, 3mm id, also remove and clean your isv. I think doing these 3 things will if not solve you problems make the car run a hell of alot better.

whats the best way to get to the relay box?

ive pulled off the clastic cover but can only reach/ see the fueses and the bottom layer of relays

how many metres of 3mm vac hose would be needed to change all of them..??......

Gotta get right down on your knees and look up into the fuse box with a torch, it aint difficult though, take literally 2 minutes. :smiley:

Yeh as said by Saul 1 metre should be enough, got mine from Zenna racing on ebay, got the blue one coz it looked  :cool:

changing the coolant sensor fixed mine
