This may have been mentioned, but i didn't see it:
The original D reg car may have been reshelled and the owner has told the DVLA of the change in chassis number, therefore the v5 would match the body. It is possible that the DVLA were not told of the engine change, therefore it kept the original plate rather than being given a Q plate.
However, the person that did the body swap obviously didn't keep the old engine and other parts from the original D reg car and just left the donor car as it was.
I probably haven't explained that very well and it may well be complete bollocks, but it is a possibilty and makes sense in my head anyway!
