Those aren't 90 spec seats are they? Thought they all had the rainbow interior.

Rainbow wasn't the only seat on 90 spec cars. It's deffo a post 88 shell as the wiper arm holes are different to the pre 88 spec shells. There is no way the shell was made in 86 so it's unlikely that the rest of the car was! I would say it's probablyan irish import or something that has been registered wrong.

I'd be really interested to see the details on the V5.

just been reading this thread and im in the same boat my 8v was first registered on 01-12-89 on a g reg and from what i can see and what ive been told its a 90,s spec???

That's possible Wuzzy as some were sold in late 89 and there are some cross over models too. If you have the hazard light button on the steering coloumn it's a 90 spec.

it looks like it could just be a very good ringer probabally done in the early 90s and lasted the test of time, everything about it is 90 spec, shell, doors, interior, rear panel etc etc. check where the chassis number is stamped on the bulk head and for damage on the vin tag esp around the rivets if anything there looks not right then you might have a problem. i wouldn't worry about it though it looks tidy and i would give you £1300 for it all day long if i was looking for one

If it was a reshellbud it would have the Digi engine or the 90 spec wiring loom. I really can't someone basiclly building a 90 spec car from scratch on an old 86 chasis number and reg. It would cost more than buying a mint 90 spec car in the first place.

My money is on the V5 stating it's an import of some kind.

I must admit the badge was replaced by my good self, I did have a more rounded one on there before this but some t***er took it whilst I was parked up, dont you love this country!!!
It has had a door resprayed for definate, nearside rear but apart from that it all looks good.
