I reckon that the straight-line in-gear times would be very similar between a remapped ED30 and a remapped S3 as they would both have similar power, the S3 is slightly heavier, but then counters with the 4WD.I would have to give this one to the ED30. Over the twisties I have no doubt that the S3 would be the faster tool, although the DSG gearbox on the ED30 counters slightly as it means you can concentrate on the road and not the gears. In the wet, then it would be the S3 that easily has the point-to-point performance edge.
The key point I left out is that the S3 feels a little too good at what it does point to point and as such isn't half as much fun. It doesn't even give you the fun of listening to a V6 like the R32 does.
