water check
« on: 24 February 2008, 20:01 »
whilst waiting for my calipers to dry i thought i'd check my oil/water as it seems to be using alot water. I have to top it up about once a week cos it goes from MAX to MIN in that time. When i checked my oil it had a load of mayo on the bottom of dipstick ...???....would this mean head gasket gone or going..??...should i get it booked into garage...??

Might not be as bad as you think, but better to be safe than sorry. As i said, i use no oil and probably pound my engine more than you do  :undecided:

my water level kept dropping and it turned out to be the water bottle lid, put a new lid on and it is now fine,

take the lid of the water bottle and give it a shake, if it rattles then its broken and you need a new one
