g60 brakes for mk1

hi there my mate just smashed up his mk2 16v beast big time witch he's absolutely gutted about as you could imagine  :cry:i was just wondering would the g60 brakes he had fitted to it fit my mk1 cabrio or do i need other brackets and would i need to change the servo and master cylinder to 16v stuff

hi mate get the hubs, carriers and calipers and it should bolt straight on
also do change the servo and master cylinder as you will have too much pedal travel otherwise. do a search for brake upgrade and you'll find loads of info.
i'm not too sure if you need the hubs but definitely carriers and calipers  :smiley:

no they wont bolt straight on, MK2 hubs are no good on a MK1 chassis either.  but you can get conversion brackets that allow you to use MK2 280 calipers n carriers on MK1 hubs, speak to this dude:

well, technically you can get MK2 hubs to fit but it messes up the steering, so unless you do some serious fabrication it doesn't work very well :)

I have the G60 hubs, carriers ,calipers and disks and they bolt straight on , no worries. :smiley:

yeah they bolt on, but like i say it messes up the steering geometry, loads of bump steer or something.  Its because the track rod mounts in a totally different place!

i see your point, mine came as a set so by the looks of that they are on mk1 hubs :embarassed:
