If so then you got Scirocco 16v/early audi 80 256 front calipers & carriers, quite rare :)

well technically tyhe calipers are the same as MK2 ones, just with a smaller bleed nipple.  It's the carriers that are the rare/expensive bit!

there is another optiuon for bigger brakes on a MK1, some vauxhaul 256/280 brakes fit a MK1.  What you do is get either shouldered bolts or make up a spacer slieve as the mounting hole is bigger and deeper, use vaux pads & flexis and MK2 256 or 280 brake discs :)
