Cambelt and Waterpump

Think they are on their way, are they both easy to change??

Depends how you are with spanners.

water pump is pretty simple but be careful with the cambelt if you have never done it before, simply misaligning by one or two teeth could result in bent valves.

all down to preference, some bits are easier from gsf or euro but i find local factors just as good and priced right plus they deliver for free!! if you get a garage to do the timing belt looking at 100-150 quids and piece of mind if it goes wrong!!!

Just had water pump and timing belt and tensioner changed at the garage. Water pump was completely knackered and had timing belt replaced for safety sake. Amazing difference in the noise level with the new pump. Expensive though £343.

£343??? i reckon i'll do it myself next weekend

Actually that did include an MoT as well - btw it passed with no advisories. There was 5 hours labour so I guess they found it quite a big job. I have been using this garage for some time so I know that they would not rip me off.

fair enough... after just buying her i cant really afford for someone else to do it, although i would prefer it

you wont bend valves on an 8v unless you have a lairy cam in it, check my digifant FAQ for info on how to tune it afterwards, its not like these old bug engines where you can just set it by ear

Be aware GSF vary in quality alot, I had a water pump from them that only lasted a few months before the bearings went.
