Don't know how on earth my engine is still in one piece! The oil pump was knackered. It wasnt returning the oil from the hydraulic followers in the cylinder head as the oil return valve was seized, leaving the valves open. Changed the oil pump today and it sounds so much better and runs a lot smoother. Thanks anyway for your help
