Engine Re-Mapping

Custom code for me too.

i read it gave the best throughout the rev range. Though as mine is a N/A it appears to give the most benefit on bottom end torque.

Would you say it was worth it for the mk4 2.0ltr 8v?

Im considering doing it but will it void my warrantyas i have only just got the car from main dealer?

what kind of warranty have you got as all MKIV's are out of their standard factory warranty

Ive got a 3 month warranty on the car from when i brought it the other week from main dealer in derby  .

Its going back next week though as there is a bit of a cold start issue 

Ahh well might as well use the warranty while ive got it

if you've only got 3 months left then wait for the map; use and abuse in the meantime 

In all honesty i wouldn't recommend a remap for the 2.0 but thats my opinion; you just don't get great gains compared to turbo models; you may get a smoother torque curve though which will help for overtaking etc 

if i had the 2.0 i'd put the money towards making the car handle better; power is nothing without control

I had a generic stage one done on my ECU, will be going for a custom code stage 2 soon.

Not sure what mine is like to other golfs but the turbo kicks in about 2,500rpm and then around 3,500 I get another bit of boost?

I got my 1.8T 1999 mapped @ chipped uk in bromsgrove  £285 and 20 mins later i was up to 197bhp but diddnt reallyfeel benifit till i had ran it in for 150 miles at least ..... now it seems its getting quicker and more aggressive by the day

A little maybe but the 1.8T is bombproof and can handle big BHP with no probs at all.
