Suggestions on rear abs sensor replacement?
« on: 13 February 2008, 17:37 »
Took me wheel off today to have a go at changing the rear abs sensor, got to the allen bolt and it was so rusty and sh!tty, i even think it may be slightly rounded, but i cant get to it very good as i aint got a ramp, just the standard jack.

Any suggestions what i could do about the allen bolt? Reaaly dont want to be paying anyone to do it as it seems such a straight forward job!

go buy somke axel stands first

then spray wd40 on it, go for a brew then try again

also try hammer your allen key in to the bolt so its seated in propperly

is it the bolt that holds part of the caliper on (2 of them)?

if so

u can get a hammer on them just, did mine on the weekend, i had to remove the braket that supports the handbrake cable, then i had to use the hammer to hit the allen key stem to actually loosen the bolt (once id got the allen key seated in the bolt)

Nah, just the small allen bolt that holds the sensor on. Would you recommend takin the caliper off to change the sensor?

i would yes if it will give u more space to work with, to remove the caliper is really easy... once you free the bolts, u also have to release the handbrake cable but its not hard, a bit faffy and thats it

Don't take anything off! There's just about enough room to hammer a socket head over it and use the ratchet to take it out. Get a replacement bolt though (have a look round the engine bay and nick one from there and swap them over)
