I personally find Fifth Gear to be a waste. Its boring and unoriginal.

Topgear however.... Is the king

Funnily enough, Fifth Gear is nearly all the old production team from the old Top Gear, pre-launch, pre clarkson, hammond, may as a threesome, ooh err.

Jeremy Clarkson...

He makes Topgear. All 3 of them do. But I really enjoy him the most.

same here, had old shape S3 and fancied a change, at the time new s3 wasn't out and would have been a bit pricey, hadn't even thought about a golf gti till I saw the road test and went and tried 1.

Top Gear is the best Car programme on TV...and the reviews do influence people when it comes to buying a car. Equally he does write for The Times and has a very good section on their website. Always worthy reading whilst Top Gear is not on TV. If Clarkson likes a car, then it probably is good.

I have to say i disagree. Top gear although is the best for entertainment, I would have to say 5th gear provide a more detailed breakdown of cars and their competitors. As well as putting them through their paces using 2 top class drivers, which James May, hamster and Clarkson definately are not.

I just find the Top Gear crew a little more concerned with making the show funny, where as 5th gear tell you a little more about issues to do with motoring.

Have to say I still watch TG and find it very funny!! but the TG test track is hardly challenging and capable of showing which car is a best performer when many are too close to call. This is where the expert advice from plato and tiff can often be the decider on a much moe challenging track

Top gear is great TV and very entertaining. Although I think it had become a bit too scripted> Fifth gear is less entertainment and more review based. Oh, and vicki butler-henderson still does it for me.

Although I find Top Gear entertaining, it has become a car show for people who are not interested in cars, in the same way that DIY programs appeal to people who don't like DIY!

It can be funny, and sometimes informative , but when they race a harrier jumpjet agaisnt a Nissan Micra, does anyone really care?

JC also is completely illogical in his reviews and tends to go for the sensationalist approach. He's well known for his loathing of the 1 series hatch but loves the new 1 series coupe. It's the same car!!
