Kenwood HU / Parrot hands free help
« on: 12 February 2008, 11:07 »
I need some help as this is frustrating and unsure if anyone knows or can help. Shame as the parrot kits are very good!

I havee a kenwood 6527 HU. I used tu have a nokia car kit with its own speaker. It used to mute the stereo and display call when the car kit was in use.

I have now changed to a parrot CK3100 bluetooth carkit.

When I turn the ignition on the kenwood mutes and displays call regardless. I press the source button and this goes off.

When a call comes in the rear speakers mute and the sound would come out of the front speakers (but they are amped) but call does not display and the front amped speakers keep playing. I have since found that you can not use this car kit with amped front speakers, as you can not route the sound through the amp, but does anyone know how to get the Kenwood to diplay call and mute the amp?

I have wired the brown tel mute wire from the kenwood into the yellow mute wire of the kit, but no joy.

I was going to change the wiring from the front speakers being amped to the rear to overcome the first problem, but still wouldn't fully cure.

Is a better option to get a kenwood bluetooth headunit and get rid of the parrot kit?? has anyone got one or had any experience of these??

Your help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!!!

Thanks

Steve

sounds like ur having a bitv a ball ache with it.
wel...as far as i'm aware from all the kits i have fitted, theyr all standard ISO fixings and in essence have the tele mute running in line of the existing wiring in order to auto mute it when a call comes in.
As you have an after market headunit in ur car...that must connect via the car ISO block rite?? but have u amped the speakers using the Pre-outs of the head unit, hence getting no sound to one end of the car for a call??

u must have the one with the little screen rite?
wel ,either case, it shouldnt matter which of the parrot kits u get, they all connect up the same way pretty much.
on the kenwood wiring loom, have u connected the Tele mute on that anywhere then?? if that comes into contact wiv a source that is constantly sending a signal down it, then that would be cause for it to remain in mute mode!

its going to be an issue with the power supply side of the parrot kit wiring as the speaker block can only do so much realy...so mite b worth tracing each and every wire on teh power side and see where each one is going with relation to the original car loom!

Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???
