Heres the outcome from the visit to the dealer.

The best they would do for the manual car was about 2.5k off list, which ruled that out straight the way as i'd already got a 2k discount off the dsg car so i'd only be 500 quid (plus the cost of dsg) better off.

So we moved on to re ordering the spec I wanted and that was looking like a 3 month wait which then has the problem of no car for 3 months.
Get them to give you the manual car as a loan car until your new one arrives!!!

That's the perfect solution
They wouldn't go for that unfortunately, but they might be able to give me a courtesy car until the new one arrives. They are going to run it by the general manager and let me know tomorrow.

If it were me in this position, then I'd possibly go for having their courtesy car anyway. I wouldn't want to compromise on the ED30 with something like the gearbox, but having one of their cars would remove the hassle of not having a car, and would effectively recover a bit of your cash by you wearing their car out for a few months instead of yours. It sort of depends whether the car they'll give you will be practical enough.

At least it seems that the Ed30's are in no danger of coming to an end. I presume they'll be building these for another 2 years now.

Hi All

Really sorry to hear about that - how can you get something like that wrong??

It's raised some concerns for me as I've gone a little bit silly with the toys on my own Ed30. I ordered it in November and it should be arriving at the beginning of March so I would hate to have to wait any longer in the event that someone has made a b@lls up - also, I had to go through a broker and the car is being sourced from a dealers at the other end of the country. (My local dealers were terrible - they didn't even return my phone calls!) So if there's anything wrong I *may* be stuck with a long round trip.

Here's my spec and it's the car I *want*. Can anyone offer assistance on what can and can't be fitted post manufacture? Thanks!

Golf GTI Ed 30 5 dr DSG
Steel grey
Cruise control
Armrest
iPod prep
Lux pack 1 (power folding mirrors)
Multifunction steering wheel, paddles, HiLine comp
Sat Nav
Xenon headlamps
Parking sensors
Winter pack
(Tracker - dealer fit anyway)

Hi mate, I know that its cheaper to get the cruise retro fitted by the dealer, not sure by how much but I'm sure someone will confirm this... Also I wouldn't bother with the winter pack, all you get for your money is heated washer jets - the headlamp washers come with the xenons and you get heated seats & low fluid light as standard. Obviously its up to you  but just trying to help! (also the Sat Nav is MUCH cheaper off ebay or the like, and from what I gather, easy to install!) Xenons & DSG is where the main cock up could occur I suppose! A call to confirm your order might help ease your concerns!

hi RussC

No - your honest comments appreciated - I will speak to the broker or dealers just to make sure.

Cheers

So far, all the reported errors have been the fault of the dealer. My dealer missed off the MFSW (which in the end wasn't a big deal for me because you still get the paddles and the wheel is just missing the buttons, but same great texture)

I would thoroughly suggest you get them to fax you a copy of the factory order, so that you can check it yourself. Do it well before the build date, and they should be able to rectify their mistake.

If they don't want to give it to you, then get them to sign something in writing that will promise to give you £5 grand in cash if a mistake is traceable back to a dealer error

I asked him about the "limited" numbers of ed30's and he just said that dealers are still getting allocations each month.

Thanx mr magoo
I think a major b@lls up like what has happened with mine is rare, but its worth contacting the broker for peace of mind.
The spec you have ordered is very smiliar to what I ordered> If you dont mind me asking, what price did you get it for from the broker?

Cheers

Hi Jay

I'm paying about 28k and am quite sore that you've managed to get such a good discount!

I tried the three dealers nearest to me and they wouldn't return my calls  which I find incredible, the car's being sourced from a dealership in the north east.

How about you?

Cheers
