What kind of putzes for dealers do you have in GB?
Manual is not as bad as you may think.
You know what pulls the new CLK 63 AMG Black Series down? Not having a manual!
"It's not that the AMG Speedshift seven-speed unit isn't a smooth or quick enough shifter; it's just that it's an automatic and we think that, in a car this focussed, people will want to shift gears themselves with a proper stick and clutch pedal."
For me same goes for E30.
Hi Peskarik, I don't think anyone's saying the manual is bad in any way, and I've certainly got no quarrels with those who prefer manual over DSG.
It's just that if you've decided you want a DSG, then to have your mind changed for you all because someone didn't bother to tick a box isn't a good thing.
Having driven a DSG Edition 30 for about 400 miles now, and having prior to that had 20 years driving only manual cars (including 'proper' sportscars), I'm rather bowled over by the DSG gearbox. There may be about 0.1% of the time when yes, a real manual might be slightly more fun... there's no doubt that managing to heel-toe a perfect gear change before a sharp bend is rewarding. In the real world, 99.9% of the rest of the time - including all those times when my heel/toeing efforts failed miserably... DSG makes things more fun! (Or in the case of town driving, not so much 'more fun' as 'less bloody tedious'

)
