3 - If you fitted either a R32 or GTI spoiler, you could then fit an OSIR carbonfibre "Tail pipe trim". Black CF would look good and quite subtle with the Steel Grey in my opinion.

This sounds like a vaiable option - but are the OSIR carbon parts not extremely expensive?  Especially a part of that size?

I wouldnt want to go with a GTI spoiler as its not meant to be painted... but an R32 one is.  I'm just worried about ruining the original look of the car, although I quite like the wee reflectors on the white car you posted above.

....All carbonfibre is relatively expensive and the OSIR tailpipe trim is about £300 but the TTshop would be able to quote you as they are the sole European distributors - 01234 853 225.

None of this is a cheap option I'm afraid. But your insurance money input could reduce it. It depends how much you want something different and if the money is spare.

I might try giving the bodyshop a ring tomorrow when they open and see what they say.
Do you have a pic of the carbon trim?

Heres my bumper the morning before I went to the bodyshop!  Bearing in mind I'd been snowboarding the day before at Glenshee and the car park was like a mud pitt!  I didnt see the point in washing it as they'd just do it anyway  :embarassed:

....It's best you see the various pics on OSIR's web site - My pics are all for quad exhausts.

Scroll down and click on the rear bumper - you'll see the Gti rear valance, which as I suggested earlier is in fact, 'one piece'

Gti bits on Ebay

So it's an R32 part you all need?

RR....Does this mean that the CF lower valance is a stick on part with screws, so that it attaches on top of the one piece GTI/ED30 lower spoiler/valance?

If so, it may still fit the ED30 after all :undecided:

....I don't know for certain and I don't think Justin (at TTshop) is certain until he hears back from Riso (OSIR). From my own experience of OSIR CF parts it's probably a screw fix to locate but mainly special adhesive. Best you ask TTshop independently because I would hate to inadvertantly misinform you.

I don't know how far proud or not it would be if stuck on top of the existing lower part of the one-piece Ed30 valance.

The problem is that these are all new parts from OSIR and are new to TTshop too, and we are the first to be fitting them. I'm confident we'll collectively be able to answer our questions in the next few days.

I don't know why VW have changed the rear valance to one-piece for the Ed30 - They could have used the existing R32 spoiler (which looks the same as the Ed30 anyway) and simply had a different tail pipe trim for the Ed30 - Am I missing something? Cheaper on the VW production line perhaps? Definitely much more expensive for the customer (us) to replace - £355 primed. I'll be paying £450 for both my R32 spoiler plus CF tail pipe trim - Just £100 more total.

Well I did say at the time I ordered that I had an ED30 and could they check that it would fit, so I'm sure that the TT shop (Dave) will be on the case.

Here's hoping that it does still fit, although it does rather seem to defeat the object of having carbon fibre parts fitted if they are in addition to parts already on the car (unless there is a performance benefit like downforce) :undecided:

I'd be in two minds whether or not to sell on the standard parts too, as I know they will only gather dust under the house :undecided:

Whats the difference between the tail pipe section of the GTI rear bumper and the ED30 one?
Is it just the clip on bit that goes round the exhaust cut out?
I've been trying to find a decent pic earlier at work - but most pics are very difficult to see that part.

If you look at MerlinMans post above and click on the ebay link, it looks like the GTI bumper is also one piece.

I think the R32 'spoiler' bit looks the biz... and would be great with the CF tail pipe bit - but from what Hurdy says I may need a GTI tail pipe section to stick the CF one ontop of?

My next question would be about the small circle in the Ed30 tail pipe bit - which must come out to reveal the tow hook?  If I put a CF part on what would happen there if I ever needed access?

I want to get my head clear as to what I can actually get and what I want before I phone the bodyshop.  I'm paying out a £425 excess - so I might at least get something different out of it rather than paying for 10 seconds stupidity!!
I'd happily pay £100 extra if it l could get that instead!

If you ever need towing from the rear it is probably only going to be out of a gravel pit on a track day. Otherwise if you need it the car would have to have had some serious damage to the front end, in which case the rear is the least of your problems.
