A couple of weeks ago I went out to the car in the morning to discover it was covered in frost. I was running a little late - so I just scraped the front and side windows before jumping in. From the time I stuck the face plate in my stereo and put on my seatbelt, a joiner man had nipped into the car park and randomly abandoned his van in the middle!
With no clear back window or mirrors (and it being pretty dark at 7.45am) I reversed into his van with a large *BUMP*!
I got out and looked at my bumper. It had a hole in it the size of a £2 coin in the bottom section, and the top section was all scuffed and knackered. I then looked at his van - which only had a cracked number plate. Whoops!
I hung around for the guy to come back out - and explained that I'd hit his van. He got down and studied his van - unfortunately he noticed that his bumper was cracked too.
After a quote for his Merc van, and a quote for my whole new bumper - I realised it was an insurance claim (luckily I have protected NCD) so on Monday I put my car into the bodyshop for repair.
I've been driving a courtesy 1.2 Corsa for the last week... and phoned yesterday to see if my car was ready. The guy explained they has a problem - but I could get my car today (Saturday).
Basically - they cant manage to locate an Edition 30 bottom half of the rear bumper! I have my car back just now with the top half fixed - but may have to wait up to a month for the bottom half. Apparently despite the Edition 30 still being a current model, there are a lack of bumpers. He said they there are 3 other people infront of me on the suppliers list - so obviously there are another 3 careless people waiting for a bumper!!!
So just a wee warning with all this naff weather at the moment.... clear all windows before setting off!!!!!!
Dont wreck your back bumper - as you may have to wait a while for a replacement!
gotta laugh mate idid the same

iwas driving the works astra van and one morning i had to scrape off the ice
did that but the inside was misty, turned the blower on and set off no problem,
however when i turned east with the winter sun in my eyes the screen, still not demisted,
turned opaque, but i thought no problem i'll slow down, next thing i know BANG!

and come to a halt, i thought WTF
next thing i see is the side window shatter and staring at me is a f*ck off big yellow empty skip

i thought b*ll*cks i managed to get the van home, about 400yds, and thought about how the f*ck am i gonna explain this

in the end i told the boss the van had been parked near the corner and a lorry must have hit it overnight

he swallowed it but said the lorry must have been doing some speed i must have heard it
i replied i'd had a few beers and didn't hear athing

repair bill was £3500 lol
