I've used gaffa tape for now, but if I was going to do it properly with new membranes I would look for some kind of mild spray adhesive I guess.

duck/gaffa tape worls a treat.
I run a strip of tape around the edges. Then stick the membrane to this strip with more tape!!!

you need to clean the metalwork, i used paraffin, to get all the dirt off. i used a whole tape of waterproof duck tape per door! and a thick bin bad.it works!

the ribbon sealer looks to me like the black "blu tak" like stuff that autoglass etc use when fitting widscreens. it is very sticky and would be ideal!
Had a ratch about and I can't find it anywhere in the UK. I got my last roll from a mate who works for autoglass. I used it to stick my VDO guages into my dash, It is rock solid but can be removed without trace if I need to!

I stuck mine down with duct tape all round it, but as said already, you need to clean the painwork first. I think I used white spirit to clean mine, it says this in the matey matey guide.

What I did was have two layers on my 5dr Golf. First I added one as shown below:
Next I bought a roll of sticky back membrane from a place called Hex Holdings. The membrane looks like it's made from a thin white foam, but once stuck on stopped my leak completely.
I had previous tried a plastic membrane with just one layer and sealed with Tiger Seal but that let water in.
