Hm this is quite a normal thing! My XR3i used to do it badly! Some cars do this and some dont but you will find if its bad, it can be caused by a few things.
1) Dirty or blocked injector
2) TPS not recording correct position
3) Engine temperature sensor not recording properly
4) Worn engine mounts - Makes natural overrun judder worse.
Ultimatly its down to the conditions inside the engine, such as back pressure, temperature and other such things, when thats the case its more the design of the engines but the golfs arnt to bad so i would say somthing is up, Some one else will be able to be more specific im sure.
