Hmmmm new fan..........I'm sure it shouldn't be possible but, just a thought, it isn't operating in the wrong direction is it? Pulling the hot air off the engine and through the radiator would cause said undesireable effect

good thinking batman!! it is very possible! you just reverse the connectors round! specially seeing as a new fan has been put in!

Gaz, next time the fan is on, stop the car, get out and put your hand in front of the grill, if its blowing out then there's your problem!

Thats a very good idea!! thanks but i have 1 slight question.

If the car was at stand still wouldm't this affect it too? as when the car is not moving its fine.

I'll check it at lunch i'll be going home.

The fan is a new 1 and it has 3 spade connectors available. Apparently 1 is for the earth, 1 is for fast spin and the other is a slow spin. At present i am using the left 1 and the right 1 i think the middle is for a slow spin. I don't think i scan swap the cables round as 1's for earth and the other2 are power.

Does this make sense?

are the connectors marked or different sizes so that the earth can only fit on one terminal?

it quite easy to reverse the polarity on them

you can do the same with your household vacuum cleaner and get it to blow instead of suck, i done this one day on my ma for a joke! she didnt see the funny side though

If the fan is operating the wrong way then when you move forward the air coming into the grill is going to come up against the air being blown out causing poor/no air flow and no end of problems. When stationary you will have a better flow of air from the fan...........even though it is going the wrong way, it will at least flow.

Try Gambit's suggestion ^^^^^ that should tell you once and for all whether its working correctly or not.

  All sorted it was blowing warm air out of the grill so like you said it was always sucking  air in from the engine instead of from the front!!

So thanks for everything all sorted now, however just set of from my street put the best pedal down and water everywhere   the top hose had popped off so now the car's on the drive till i can get an hose kit!!

does any1 know any online companys that does hose kits! what about demontweeks? i'll start looking

Glad I was able to help and pleased that at least that problem is now fixed

That poor old fan must have been having a 'meltdown' trying to overcome the incoming air
