3-door window seals
« on: 28 January 2008, 09:10 »
Hi guys, quick question.

Whatever happened to the window seals on the rear side windows on the 3-door. I’ve seen a few 2005 models with seals but the new ones don’t. Any clues. Are they retrofit, has the design changed?

Cheers forum buddies

They stopped fitting the seals last year. You notice it more on Candy white cars.
Cost cutting I presume.

I noticed this when swapping from a 55 plate Gti to the 57 plate ED30, not sure what year they actually stopped fitting them.

If you look at this picture of my car you can see it.  At the bottom of the front window there is a black strip, but not at the bottom of the back window.  It ruins the smooth lines and makes the windows look uneven!

ive had 2 cars with rubber seal and latest without,i think it looks better (mines black tho) and its far less hassle when it comes to waxing not having to be careful getting wax on the rubber

I used to find on my old car that when I washed it then dried it off, the rubber seals always trapped a little bit of water which would then gradually trickle down the rear panel over the next couple of hours, so prefer no seals thank you
