Edition 30 Blue Fin Returned! APR?
« on: 22 January 2008, 19:31 »
Hi All!
After weeks of phone calls e.t.c. I decided on Superchips Bluefin for my edition 30! I have been running the program since friday and yesterday  I put the car back to stock as I found the power delivery of the superchips not to my taste! The power doesn't really come in until 4,000 revs and it comes in with one big woosh! I must admit superchips where very good about everything and I have got my money back under the 7 days return and they even sent a courier to collect the BlueFin! Can any of you running the APR remap on your edition 30 let me know how you find the power delivery? Do you think the extra power makes the car a better car or just faster?

Cheers John

The power delivery is spot on pal. Very similar to standard ED30 only more so. There is more low down punch, which is where the standard ED30 was a bit lacking compared with my old remapped regular GTi, and plenty of top end pull, pulling cleanly and strongly all the way to the redline, which is where the mapped regular GTi was lacking a bit.
If you have a look on Awesomes website under the rolling road section, look for the VAG H20 day, theres my car with power graphs and a video, this should give you an idea of the delivery pal. The lower graph is power at the wheels, top graph flywheel as you they are nice smooth graphs.
Hope this helps

Thanks for posting your experience...I'm looking to remap my ED30 come the Spring and was thinking of the Bluefin.

I think I'll try the 6 hour free trial that Awesome GTI offer with the APR remap first,  as I'd have nothing to lose by trying this.

Like you I'd much prefer to see some noticebale gains lower down in the rev range, and a nice even spread of power and torque

Does anyone have various RR charts of the maps? Would be handy to see what effect each has.

My APR map feels very progressive. Here's a graph of the map

Strange the superchips graph would show a different story of one big wnoosh at 4k - there is a lump of torque at 3k  :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:

Oh well - i'll least have an opinion by this time next week!

I don't get a big whoosh at 4k in mine  :undecided: Its when you hit 3k and the turbo kicks in and you get a big surge of power all the way through the rev range. very smooth, I would say the delivery is very similar to stock but just with more power. interesting experience as i was under the impression it was a generic map

Yes turbo spools up at about 3000 revs but starts to kick in at about 4000 revs! I can honestly say i't spoils the drive of the car! This power late on in the revs would be good for on a track but for country roads!?
