Volkswagen re-open orders for ED30
« on: 19 January 2008, 19:00 »
When picking up my new ED30 for the dealers the other day they informed me that Volkswagen have started taking orders again for the ED30 due to the popularity of the car, to be honest I think it never stopped. What happened to the 1500 units only coming to the UK?? They'll be like bloody Vectra's soon!!

Yeah I totally agree with you there....when you can get fully discounted UK spec imports it is hardly a limited Special Edition anymore.

Having owned both a standard and now an ED30 I can honestly say that the ED30 engine is, and sounds, so much "gruntier".

I'm not surprised it is achieving 244bhp on rolling roads as standard...well worth the extra £ alone IMO.

Having just received our ED30 this week, I'm not surprised by this news... it's a sign that the ED30 really hits the spot for a blend of performance and reasonable fuel efficiency, all with a nice premium feel to it (especially in white  )

What will it mean for second hand values? I'm not sure it'll matter. It's a damned desirable car, and I hope they're still pumping them out in 2 years so that people will be keen to get their hands on a rare early version!

So, does this mean that all of the customers who bought into the "1500 only sir"...."will hold its value better because of it sir"....."ooooh, suits you sir!"  will have any grounds for going back to the dealer to get some kind of compensation?

You know what'll happen though don't you :undecided:

This is the ED30 version II, it has a different retainer spring in the rear XXX and so isn't the same at all your honour!

The fact that it is 99.999999999999999999999% the same would probably mean jack sh!t

If I remember tomorrow I might give a random VW dealer a call and ask if they are still taking orders.

VW should have numbered the cars like the last Anni. Look at Vauxhall Astra VXR Nürburgring Edition thats limited and numbered.  :embarassed:

I have no doubt that if the Ed30 had been out when I ordered my GTI I'd have bought one. The Ed30 is more the car that the standard GTI should be (which is still excellent!).
