Where can I get FREE Radio Codes??
« on: 19 January 2008, 17:34 »
Had to unplug the battery and the standard stereo is now asking for a code (this is not a VW by the way!). Anyone know where I can get hold of radio codes for free (somewhere reliable)? Otherwise im gonna have to get ripped off by one of the companies that do it.

Cheers! Hayley

You've said it's not a VW, but can we have another clue?

For a Seat Leon (2001) standard stereo - Aura v4.
I have the serial number, but no working code.

Try contacting your local dealer with the s/n and chassis no. - they may be able to supply it free.

The theives want £35 for plugging it into their computer, to get the code . Im probably going to go for a new stereo instead, would rather pay a few quid more and get something new!  :undecided:

Thanks anyway.

Thanks for this, unfortunately that is for choosing the option so that the stereo no longer asks for a code if the battery is disconnected. Would definately be helpful if I had the code as then I could change that setting. Until I have a code im stuffed.

Havent come across any websites doing it for a fiver. Though id be a bit wary of parting with my money incase they didnt come up with a code. Unless of course someone could tell me a site they had used successfully personally.

Think im fighting a bit of a loosing battle, its either pay out for the code or for a new stereo.

Is the stereo the original with the car? If so, how about a call to Seat customer services to explain that you never received the stereo info from the previous owner.

Failing that, 35 quid for half an hour of main dealer time isn't that bad.

£35 quid though for to go "oh its blah blah blah"...
depending on what stereo she wants, could just probs get a better one..

Although i like your schneaky first plan

You could always try the get the boobs out and "can you look at my car mr mechanic" whilst fluttering eyelashes" approach
