Can a MKIV Gamma stereo control a later CD unit?????
« on: 11 January 2008, 16:57 »
hey there folks

I am new here so I apologise if I am repeating something. I did scan the entries but didn't see anything.....

I have a MK3 Golf TDi and want to put in an original stereo (have bought a Gamma MKIV unit) - there is a really tacky looking JVC in place at the moment.

Can the Gamma MKIV unit control the modern indash single CD or 6 disc CD Changers from the MK4 onwards?

If not, what changers are available for me to link to the Gamma?

I hope someone can help.

Cheers

Andy

the Gamma units can control the single CD, 6 CD in dash and boot mounted changers for the MKIV only; a few have tried the changers from the MKV but as yet haven't got one working.

didn't think it was possible to fit a Gamma unit into a MK3 though  :undecided:

Hi

Thanks for replying.

I may have my terminology wrong. The Gamma radio/cassette that I am working with is from the Mk3 Golf. Its the one with the round volume knob and 2 smaller knobs for balance etc as opposed to the later Gamma with the square buttons surrounding the volume knob.

I have tried the later Gamma (V) in my Golf without any joy - apparently they are VIN coded. So, thats why I tracked down the correct Gamma (IV). I am still waiting for it to arrive but the picture of the back shows 3 plug ports, thus my wondering if it can control a later CD.

Thanks

Andy
